About George Tomov

     George Tomov, artistic director and choreographer of the TOMOV Folk Dance Ensemble, rose to critical acclaim and worldwide recognition in the dance world during his unprecedented 16-year tenure as a solo dancer with the Yugoslav national ensembles LADO and TANEC. Mr. Tomov is a noted authority on the music, dance, and culture of the ethnic regions comprising the former Yugoslavia.

     Born and raised in Strumica, Macedonia, Mr. Tomov moved to the U.S. in 1967 and began teaching folkdance sessions in New York City and giving dance master classes across the country. In 1974, Mr. Tomov formed his own dance company, the TOMOV Folk Dance Ensemble, which rose quickly to rank among the country's foremost ethnic dance companies.
